Mikel Arteta is planning a major revamp to his first-team squad and one of the priorities for the Arsenal manager is to get rid of Alexandre Lacazette.

Ian McGarry and Duncan Castles have recently claimed on the Transfer Window Podcast that the Gunners have put the Frenchman up for sale as they look to find funds for their new arrivals.

Castles said on the podcast, as quoted: “A player who they would like to sell and get their wages away, but they are finding very difficult to sell is Alexandre Lacazette.”

McGarry added: “I have been told that Lacazette has been marketed very aggressively around Europe, but there’s not been any particular interest that is strong enough to suggest that Arsenal will be able to offload Lacazette.”

Can Arsenal sell Lacazette?

Lacazette has failed to secure a regular spot in Arteta’s playing XI – starting in just 22 Premier League matches last season. So it’s no surprise that the manager is planning to cash in on him.

The 30-year-old is about to enter the final phase of his professional career so the club would much rather invest in fresh talent than give him a new contract.

Castles and McGarry have made it clear that no major European club interested in Lacazette yet but once we don’t think Arsenal will find it hard to secure a buyer before the transfer window shuts down.

Alexandre Lacazette has only one more year left on his current deal and he’s valued at £25 million. So, we can presume that Arsenal will not be quoting an astronomical fee for the centre-forward.

Mikel Arteta have players like Martinelli, Nketiah and Aubameyang who can play upfront meaning even if they don’t sign a new striker, it won’t be too much of an issue.

But right now, the main priority for Arsenal will be to offload the Frenchman and put that money to use in the transfer market.
