Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to be a free agent at the end of the 2020-21 season and according to Stephen Warnock, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp should try and reunite with his former striker.

The Gunners are trying really hard to make the forward sign a new deal but if they fail, Mikel Arteta will have no other option but to cash in on him during the upcoming transfer window. And according to Warnock, Klopp could add some serious competition to his front line by signing Aubameyang this summer.

The former defender told BBC Radio 5 Live, as reported by Goal: “If I was Jurgen Klopp, I’d be going for him with a year left on his contract.

“You’re wanting a goalscorer who can either come off the bench or play on a regular basis. He will challenge the front three, he doesn’t need time to settle, you know he’s proven, he knows the manager and the manager knows what he’s about.

“Aubameyang will be on big wages, but he won’t cost you big money to get him out with a year left on his contract and the age that he’s at.

“Would Aubameyang like to go to a club like Liverpool, Manchester City or Manchester United? From his point of view, being a squad player at 31, competing for the Champions League, competing for leagues, and he will win some trophies going to one of those three clubs – that’s what he wants at the end of his career.

“When you retire, to have that association with one of those clubs, as well as Arsenal, as well as Borussia Dortmund, what a CV you’ve got then.”

Will Liverpool try and sign Aubameyang?

Jurgen Klopp would love to sign someone like Aubameyang but there are a couple of reasons why this deal is not likely to happen.

The first and perhaps the biggest reason is the fact that Arteta will not be too keen to sell his biggest asset to a direct rival, especially with clubs like Real Madrid seemingly interested in signing him in the summer.

Liverpool are already the best in England and surely the Gunners will not want to strengthen their squad further by handing them someone like Aubameyang.

The second reason why Klopp is not likely to make a move for Aubameyang is that if a player like him comes into the side, players such as Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino could look to head out. And the last thing the manager would want to do is disrupt his winning formula by adding a 31-year-old into the mix.
