According to a report by Caught Off Side, Liverpool have held internal discussions about signing Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

Liverpool are expected to lose Mo Salah at the end of this season as the Egyptian international is once again going to be the focus of the Saudi Pro League. With Salah’s contract coming to an end in 2025, there’s a much bigger chance that the Anfield outfit will look to cash in on him in the coming months.

Summerville has had a very good season with Leeds United and according to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Elland Road outfit will have a fight on their hands in trying to hold onto the Dutch winger.

Jacobs has told Give Me Sport: “Summerville all season has been focused on Leeds, very professional and very loyal to the club. Naturally, when a club like Liverpool or any other club of that nature make an offer, it can be very hard for players to turn it down.

“They’re joining a club with Champions League football, much bigger wages, and no risk of dropping out of the division a season later.

“So you can understand why Leeds may face a battle to keep Summerville. But we should stress that Summerville has always been very loyal and committed to Leeds. He’s not been one of the players, for example in the January window, to start asking for anything or pushing for an exit.”

Can Crysencio Summerville be a good signing for Liverpool?

Crysencio Summerville has been with Leeds since 2021 and this season, in the Championship, the youngster has been one of the standout players at Elland Road.

He has scored 19 goals in 43 league games and he’s also provided nine assists. The €18 million-rated attacker is primarily a left winger but he is more than capable of playing on the right and throughout his career he’s played more than 100 games in that position.

The Netherlands U21 international has had 129 shots on target this season and he has an xG of 18.4.

As Jacobs said, it will be a nightmare for Leeds to hold onto the 22-year-old but we doubt if Liverpool are going to make any sort of serious moves for him.

Crysencio Summerville has been brilliant in the second division but Liverpool cannot bring in a youngster to replace Mo Salah. Salah has played in 348 games for Liverpool in which he has netted more than 200 goals and the last thing the fans will want is for their club’s management to sign a player who’s had just one good season.

With the way he’s played this season, the Leeds man obviously deserves an upgrade and we are sure several Premier League clubs are already looking at him however, we just don’t see him replacing the Egyptian next season.
