Arsenal look all set to miss out on this 24 Y/O winger: Heading to another club?

Norwich City Carrow Road

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Norwich City winger Emi Buendia during the January transfer window but with each passing day, it seems the deal will not go through.

A few days back Norwich boss Daniel Farke made it clear that Buendia is not up for sale and now the 24-year-old himself has expressed his desire to remain with the Canaries and helping them get back into the Premier League.

“It is true that there was a lot of talk in the summer, after relegation, about the possibility that both I and other teammates could leave the team to continue in the Premier League,” Buendia said, as reported.

“However, I always had my head in this club. I belong to Norwich, I have to do things well for my team. Tomorrow we will see, but I never had my head outside the objectives, to work so that my club does well.

“As this season unfolds, we are doing well and I am very happy to be here. We are in a good position, I am feeling important, I am adding goals and assists for my teammates.”

Both Willian and Nicolas Pepe have been major disappointments this season in the Premier League and someone like Emi Buendia would have been the perfect upgrade for the Emirates outfit.

During the 2020-21 season, the Norwich City winger has scored seven and assisted seven goals in 19 Championship games so far and he could be the creative spark that Arteta needs to turn things around at Arsenal.

But the Championship side are not too keen to part ways with such an important player during the middle of the season, more so since he still has more than three years left on his current deal with the club.

Emi Buendia is eager to return to the Premier League as soon as possible and he wouldn’t mind achieving that via a promotion with Norwich City. But if Farke’s side cannot secure a move up the ladder by the end of this campaign then we doubt if the Argentine will spend another year at Carrow Road.
