Spurs beat Everton 5-0 at home on Monday night and with this win, they have once again opened the doors for a probably top-four finish.

Arsenal currently hold the fourth spot on the Premier League table and because they have games in hand, the Gunners are the favourites to grab that final Champions League spot. Spurs though are not far behind and according to Antonio Conte, finishing in the top four will be nothing short of a European triumph at this point in time.

“Now we have 12 games to play until the end of the season,” he said, as quoted. “I listen and you ask me in every press conference about the top-four race.

“I said to my players that it’s right to take responsibility about this because I think that from when I arrived to now we are stronger.

“In January two players made us more complete. I think that we can fight. We can fight for this target. It’s important to have this ambition and it’s not right to hide our ambition and we’ll see what happens.

“We’ll try to do everything and at the end we’ll see what happens. Now we have only 12 games to play, not a trophy to play for. For this reason, it’s right to take the responsibility, me, myself, I have to be the first.

“You know I don’t like to speak about ambition and reaching a place in the Champions League because I like to play to win the league and win trophies, but in this situation this could be our Champions League, our Premier League title if we are able to reach fourth place.”

Can Spurs grab that fourth spot on the Premier League table?

Arsenal are three points ahead of Spurs at the moment and they have one game in hand meaning effectively they have a six-point lead.

The Gunners have been playing some wonderful football but they still have some massive games to play. Arsenal still need to entertain teams like Liverpool, Leicester, Man United and West Ham so they are bound to drop points.

Many pundits have put their money on Arsenal imploding in the coming months but with the way they are playing, we don’t see that happening. Even if they lose all the big matches, they will go down fighting.

Manchester United and West Ham United have played 28 games each so they will need a massive miracle to be able to enter the top four by the end of May. Both these sides might have run out of steam and while they will be in the run, theoretically, we don’t expect them to pull the rabbit out of the hat.

United and West Ham are still in Europe so these additional games are also going to be a cause of hindrance for both these sides.

Based purely on mathematics and probability, Spurs look like the genuine contenders for Arsenal right now but they have some huge games coming up as well.

Tottenham still have to face Liverpool, West Ham and Man United meaning they don’t have a bed of roses laid infront of them either. Next weekend, they head to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United and if they can pick up three points in that match then it will be like killing two birds with one stone.

Not only will they be breathing down Arsenal’s neck but at the same time, they would have knocked United out of the top-four race.
