Aurelien Tchouameni has been a major flop at Real Madrid and if the rumours are to be believed then the 24-year-old midfielder could be on his way to Liverpool.

Fichajes is claiming that Carlo Ancelotti has given up hope on Tchouameni and the French international is now on the three-man shortlist of players whom the manager wants to offload during the January transfer window. Along with Tchouameni, Ferland Mendy and David Alaba will also be put up for sale at the start of the new year.

To add to this bit of news, a report in Football365 claims that Liverpool have been given the green light to make an offer for the midfielder and it seems like the Premier League side are going to test the waters with a €60 million offer.

Can Tchouameni be a sensible signing for Liverpool?

Liverpool failed to sign Martin Zubimendi last summer as the midfielder refused a significant offer to remain with Real Sociedad.

Thankfully, Arne Slot has not given up hopes of signing a new central midfielder and it looks like the Liverpool boss has shifted his focus to Aurelien Tchouameni.

Tchouameni had joined Real Madrid in 2022 with a lot of hopes but unfortunately, the ex-Monaco man has failed to live up to the hype. Overall, he’s played 103 games for the club and this season, the midfielder’s performances have been really inconsistent.

Despite having a passing accuracy of 92% he has created only three chances in 10 LaLiga appearances and in defence, he has managed to win just 50% of the tackles he’s contested.

Tchouameni is clearly not suiting Carlo Ancelotti’s plans this season but he can very easily fit into Arne Slot’s 4-2-3-1 system alongside Mac Allister and Gravenberch.

Endo’s unimpressive start to the campaign has forced Slot to rely on Mac Allister and Gravenberch up until now but the introduction of Tchouameni can add a fair bit of competition in the middle of the pitch.

The Frenchman has won the LaLiga and also the Champions League with Real Madrid and this trophy-winning experience will come really handy as Liverpool look to hold onto their place at the top of the Premier League table.

A club like Real Madrid have really high standards which Aurelien Tchouameni has failed to meet this season but we believe at Anfield, he will get a lot more time to settle down and make a positive impact.
