Chelsea forward Timo Werner has been really underwhelming this season for the Blues but according to Chris Sutton, the German international could be the point of difference this week.

Chelsea take on Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final and it seems like Sergio Ramos will make a rather hasty return to the side due to the injury sustained by Raphael Varane.

And according to pundit Chris Sutton, if it comes down to the Timo Werner vs Sergio Ramos, there’s likely to be only one winner.

He wrote in his Daily Mail column: “Chelsea created chances and should have scored more than the one they did through Christian Pulisic.

“Timo Werner, in particular, missed a glorious opportunity from inside six yards. All strikers go through good and bad patches of form.

“Werner has proved himself to be a good team player but he has not been clinical enough in front of goal. We know that, and he knows that. But he has to sense the opportunity in front of him now.

“It sounds like Sergio Ramos will return for Real — in what would be his first start for the club since March 16.

“Werner would win any foot races against Ramos. He should go out there, help his team into a Champions League final and believe he can win them this competition. It’s been an indifferent season for Werner but guiding Chelsea to glory in Europe would earn him legend status.”

Timo Werner has been really poor this season for the Blues scoring just 11 goals in 46 games across all competitions. But under Thomas Tuchel, the forward is proving to be a much more team player.

He found the back of the net against West Ham United recently and last weekend vs Fulham, he also provided a key assist. So, it’s pretty likely he will get the nod to start alongside Pulisic on Wednesday.

We can’t be sure of how much of an impact the forward will make in the second leg but since the onus is on Real Madrid, Chelsea will have chances to break on the counter and Timo Werner can prove to be a real handyman in such situations.
