Premiership side Celtic FC are set to bring two players on board by the start of the first week of June claims the Daily Record.

The first one is Benfica winger Jota who has had a wonderful loan spell with Celtic and is now on the verge of signing a permanent deal with the Scottish giants.

The exclusive report claims: “Celtic expect to make the signing of Portuguese wing king Jota permanent this week.

“Celtic signed Jota on-loan from Benfica in the summer but with an option to buy.

“They have now exercised that right and have all but agreed personal terms which will see his move to Glasgow become a permanent one.”

The other signing is going to be the £6m signing of Spurs’ defender Cameron Carter-Vickers. It’s being claimed that the defender and Celtic have agreed on personal terms with the player so it’s now down to the two clubs to sort out the rest of the contract.

Some experts in Scotland are of the view that the Glasgow side should be able to wrap up this signing within a fortnight as well.

Both of them were on loan at Celtic during the 2021/22 season and by the end of the season, it was almost certain that Ange Postecoglou was going to hold onto them.

CCV has been rock-solid in defence getting 28 league starts and despite being a winger, Jota has managed to score 10 goals in 29 league games plus his pace and trickery have gotten the better of most Premiership defenders.

It’s shaping up to be a great start to the summer transfer window for Postecoglou but the manager needs to bring in a handful of more signings to be able to match up with the European teams next season.

Celtic eyeing a move for two Manchester City players:

As per Sky Sports, the Celtic management are also interested in Manchester City duo Ko Itakura and Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Harwood-Bellis, 20, is a centre-back by trade and spent the second half of the season on loan at Stoke City. The Bhoys are possibly looking at the youngster as a backup defender for the next season.

Itakura, on the other hand, is a player who was on Celtic’s radar last summer and it looks like the SPFL side will go back for him once again. During the 2021/22 campaign, he was out on loan to Schalke.

The 25-year-old is primarily a defender but can also play as a defensive midfielder and while he is a full time international for Japan, Itakura has spent most of his club career moving around on loan.
