Scottish side Celtic FC have reportedly reignited their interest in Honduras winger Alberth Elis.
The 24-year-old currently plays for MLS side Houston Dynamo but he’s set to be a free agent at the end of this year. The American club have offered him a new deal but many reports claim the player is keen to join a European side having recently admitted that his dream will be to play for one of the UEFA clubs
He said, as reported: “My dream to be able to go to Europe and this is my chance.
“This is a real opportunity and I think I will make the decision that I will leave Houston and give Europe a go. There are a few teams we are already talking to in Europe and Houston have also made me a contract offer, a very good one too.”
But recently when he was asked about Celtic’s interest in signing him, the winger chose to deflect the topic by claiming that his full focus still remains at playing for Houston Dynamo.
Elis said in an interview in Honduras: “Right now, I am focused only on this MLS tournament, I know that if I have a very good tournament, there are teams that will be watching me and this is very beneficial for me.
“I think that we will make the best decision at the end of this tournament.
“I hope that I receive some very good offers. I am very calm at that point and for me, the most important thing is to do my best in this tournament. It may be that it’s my last games for the club so I need to concentrate on it.”
Many pundits think Alberth Elis did not want to talk about Celtic FC since they are not the only club interested in signing him as English sides such as Stoke City and Everton have also been linked with him over the course of the past few months.
We are still not sure if the English sides will be able to land the Honduran forward due to all the rules and regulations in the country but one thing’s for sure, Alberth Elis is keeping all his options open.
The forward played in 26 MLS games last season having managed to score nine goals along with nine assists and year too Neil Lennon tried to sign him.
