Celtic FC brought in right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Manchester City last summer and the club are already planning to offer him a new and improved deal, according to the Football Insider.

The report claims: “Celtic are keen to reward Jeremie Frimpong for his brilliant debut season with a new and improved contract, Football Insider understands.

“The right-back, 19, was named the club’s young player of the year last night after establishing himself in the first team following his deadline-day transfer from Man City last summer.

“A Celtic source has told Football Insider the club are willing to recognise the progress made by Frimpong with a new deal that would include a significant pay rise.”

The 19-year-old has really impressed in Scotland with the Bhoys, scoring two and assisting three goals in 14 Premiership games. And it seems like Neil Lennon is willing to reward him with this new deal.

Recently, Frimpong showed his admiration towards Celtic FC claiming that he did the right thing by joining the Parkhead outfit from Manchester City.

The right-back said: “It was the best decision of my career so far – 100 per cent. When Celtic first came in for me and I just thought, ‘This is an amazing club’. I couldn’t wait to get started. It was a chance of first-team football and I wanted to give it everything.

“I knew I was ready for first-team football. I knew it – but I had to go and prove it. When the manager gave me the chance it was such a big moment in my career. But when you play for Celtic with the team-mates I have, what can go wrong?

“Was it a brave decision? Listen, if you want to be a footballer you have to make those decisions. As a young player you sometimes have to move. You can’t always stay with your family. Growing up, I knew that one day I would probably have to make that decision and go elsewhere.

“It was tough leaving my family and all my siblings. Coming to Glasgow by myself was hard. You have to adapt, though, and handle the situation. I knew that Celtic was the right club for me at that age.”

During the 2019-20 season, the right-back played in 14 league matches and out of these, he’s started in only 46% of the games. But next season, the youngster’s sure to get more starting berths for the Parkhead outfit.
