According to a report in Football Scotland, Celtic FC manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign Danish goalkeeper Peter Vindahl Jensen.

Keeper Joe Hart has retired which is why Celtic FC are now in the hunt to find a long-term replacement for the English keeper and as per the rumours, Jensen is one of the leading candidates to be the No 1 for the Bhoys.

Names like Koen Casteels, Caoimhin Kelleher and Asmir Begovic have all been linked with the Premiership team over a possible summer move but it looks like Peter Vindahl is priority number one at the moment.

Who is Peter Vindahl and can he be a success at Celtic FC?

Peter Vindahl spent the current season on loan with Sparta Prague from AZ Alkmaar but back in March, he signed a permanent deal with Sparta until 2025.

This season, he has had a very commendable season in the Fortuna Liga, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding only 26 goals in 28 appearances. While his league stats are very strong, he had a poor Europa League campaign as conceded 22 goals in 10 matches.

The 26-year-old has played in 4 games for the Denmark U21 side but he is yet to make a senior appearance for Denmark.

On paper, Vindahl can succeed in the Scottish Premiership next season but Celtic FC will have to be ready to spend a steep price to sign the goalkeeper. Sparta Prague had paid around €1.5 million to sign him permanently from Alkmaar and his current market value is €3 million.

If Sparta Prague are willing to cash in Vindahl then they will want to make a major profit. Based on the keeper’s valuation, it won’t be a surprise if the club quotes around €6-8 million.

Having said that Liverpool will demand around £20 million to sell Kelleher which is impossible for Celtic FC to match while Asmir Begovic is currently 36 years old and we doubt if Brendan Rodgers will want to sign such an ageing player instead of the 26-year-old Peter Vindahl.
