Celtic FC signed Maryan Shved from Karpaty Lviv during the January transfer window but was immediately loaned back to the Premier Liga club until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has done really well for himself this season having already scored 11 goals in just 19 league games and the Bhoys had been growing really excited about the youngster’s performances.

It was clear that in Maryan Shved, the Glasgow outfit had managed to sign a great talent who when properly nurtured could become an asset for a really long time.

But now it looks like, the youngster’s progress has been halted after the Lviv manager claimed that Maryan Shved has suffered a pretty big injury.

Fabri Gonzalez told the Sun that Shved has torn his abductor muscle and the winger could very well be out until the end of the season.

“Maryan suffered a bad injury when he tore an abductor muscle in his thigh,” the manager said.

“He is one of our best players and his absence certainly made it far harder for us against Shakhtar. He will have tests and at this stage, we don’t yet know the extent of his injury.”

If Maryan Shved was to miss the rest of the season it shouldn’t affect Celtic’s season directly but the Hoops will be hoping that this injury does not hamper the youngster’s future progress.

This is not the first major injury that Maryan Shved has suffered as he had ruptured his ligament back in 2016 while he was playing for Sevilla and that injury put him on the sidelines for a full season.
