Manager Ange Postecoglou has done a remarkable job at Celtic since taking over in 2021 and according to journalist Dean Jones, the manager will be rewarded with a new deal.

The Australian manager has won two trophies this season and Jones has told GiveMeSport that Celtic will look to offer him a long-term contract at Parkhead.

He said: “I imagine they’ll try to reward him in some term. I mean, whether he wants a long-term commitment, who knows, I don’t think he’ll be pushing necessarily for raises or anything like that at this point.

“But from a Celtic point of view, you’ve got this identity now; they’d hate to get into a situation at the start of next season where they’re doing really well, and suddenly another job comes up elsewhere, and he’s pretty available because there’s not going to be much of a fee to get him out of there.”

Does Postecoglou deserve a new deal at Celtic?

When Postecoglou took over, Celtic were in total shambles but over the previous 12 months, he has done a remarkable job at Parkhead.

From clearing out the deadwood to bringing in fresh talents and then winning the SPFL title and the League Cup, Postecoglou has done everything right in the domestic circuit. Next up, he needs to get things going in Europe but for that, he will need time and patience.

Scottish clubs are always at the risk of losing their managers to bigger European teams(Rodgers to Leicester, Gerrard to Villa so on and so forth) so it makes sense that Celtic want to tie him down to a new deal.

In that way, the club might not be able to hold onto Ange Postecoglou but they can sure get some good value out of his move. At this point, there’s no major interest in him so the 56-year-old should agree to sign the new deal.
