Celtic are desperate to bring Cameron Carter-Vickers back to the club and the defender’s latest statement has made it clear that a deal will be wrapped up very soon.

The Spurs centre-back spent the 21/22 season on loan at Parkhead and he was one of the standout players for Celtic. He’s been on Tottenham’s book since 2015 but all he’s done is move around the UK in various loan spells. He’s spent time with Luton Town, Bournemouth, Stoke, Swansea and a few others.

However, the defender has now made it clear that he no longer wishes to head out on a loan arrangement as he’s now looking for a permanent move.

“I have really enjoyed it at Celtic. We were good to watch and an enjoyable team to play in. I am 24 now and want to be somewhere where I can settle for a few years,” he told The Scottish Sun.

“Me and my agent have been talking to the club throughout the season about what’s going to happen at the end of the season. But obviously, it’s not just my decision. Celtic have to come to some kind of agreement with Tottenham so it’s not completely in my hands.

“I just want to be somewhere playing football. If I’m being completely honest, I think it’s time to move on permanently. I’m happy with last season. I really enjoyed my time there.

“But what will happen in the future? I’m not too sure. Will I go back? You never know. I just want to be somewhere where I enjoy my football and get on with the manager. The manager at Celtic is a top manager who wants to play out of the back and keep possession, which suits me.”

When is Cameron Carter-Vickers returning to Celtic?

This statement from the USA international has more or less made it clear that he has no plans at staying with Spurs.

Now, as per the rumours, Celtic and the defender have already agreed on personal terms and the only thing left for the SPFL side to do is to agree on a fee with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Premier League club are more than willing to part ways with Carter-Vickers and a fee of around £6-8 million should be enough to trigger a sale. This is obviously a steep fee for Celtic but with the kind of impact the centre-back had last year, they should agree to pay this amount.
