Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele has reportedly handed in a transfer request amidst heavy interest from the likes of Rangers FC and Celtic FC.

A report in Football Insider claims: “Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele has handed in a transfer request amid interest from Rangers and Celtic, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

“The 24-year-old attacker has been attracting the interest of the Scottish giants and Premier League sides following some dazzling displays in League One.

“An industry source has told Football Insider that Dembele has now tried to push for an exit this month by handing in a formal request to leave Peterborough.”

Dembele joined Peterborough United in the summer of 2018 and this season he has scored five and assisted five goals in 17 League One appearances for the club.

The 24-year-old’s younger brother plays for Celtic FC but the Bhoys are anything but in pole position since reports have confirmed that Rangers FC have sent scouts to watch Dembele a couple of times.

The player’s current deal with the League One club expires at the end of the 2020-21 season so technically the club will have to sell him off this month or let him leave for in the summer.

This combined with the fact that Dembele has handed in a transfer request surely makes the scene a whole lot brighter for the two SPFL clubs but they will have a really tough time convincing the 24-year-old to move to Scotland.

Apart from Celtic and Rangers FC, Premier League clubs like Wolves and Crystal Palace have been keeping tabs on him and as per some rumours both the English sides could make a formal move for Dembele in the coming weeks.
