Chelsea beat Leicester City in the Premier League on Tuesday night meaning they are now in the driver’s seat to finish in the top four of the table.

The Blues won the match 2-1 but the way they played for the full 90 minutes, Tuchel’s side deserved more than two goals. And had it not been for all the disallowed goals in the first half, Chelsea could have won by a comfortable scoreline.

Timo Werner stood up when needed the most and he was easily one of the best players on the pitch for the London outfit. The German had two goals ruled out and he also won the penalty through which Jorginho netted Chelsea’s second goal.

Like Werner, Rudiger was also key to Chelsea’s win on Tuesday since he was not only stellar in defence but also opened the scoring for the Blues. And everyone was sure that Thomas Tuchel will praise the German duo after the match.

Instead, the Chelsea boss refused to shower individual players with praises as he made it clear that the job is not yet done.

He said after the match: ‘There is no time for extra praise, now the time is to enjoy the free day and then be ready to work and be ready for Aston Villa, nothing else.

‘For Toni I’m absolutely happy that he scored for us. He was again very good, very reliable, but I feel a bit uncomfortable today to praise single players and praise single players because now it’s important to stay really strong as a group and to come together as a group.

‘We absolutely need to refocus on Sunday. This is not the time for celebration.

‘It’s a big step, but it’s only a step. It’s not done yet, we have to push it over the line on Sunday.

‘It was a huge team effort, full of intensity, hunger and ambition. We played with a lot of quality for what was in my opinion a very deserved win.

‘But it’s not the time for celebrations, it’s not the time for praise, it’s not the time for thinking it’s more than three points. It’s actually only three points and there’s another three to get on Sunday and we have to be prepared and aware to finish the job.’

A win for Chelsea means they are now third on the Premier League table while Leicester City slip to the fourth spot. If Liverpool can pick up a win against Burnley on Wednesday then the Foxes will fall out of the top four courtesy of goal difference.

Chelsea take on Aston Villa on Sunday in their final Premier League game of the season, following which they prepare themselves for the Champions League final.
