Chelsea could face action from the FA after the Blues fans indulged in anti-semitic chants during their 2-1 victory against Leicester City on Saturday.

Chelsea fans were singing, “Morata, whoa, Morata, whoa. He came from Real Madrid, he hates the f**cking Y**s.” And this song which was supposedly dedicated to their new signing Alvaro Morata contained lyrics which are offensive to the Jews.

And no sooner did the match came to an end, both Chelsea and Alvaro Morata urged the fans to stop singing the chant. The Chelsea football club released a statement within an hour after the match got over asking their fans not to indulge in such anti-semitic chants.

The statement read, “The club and the players appreciate the fans’ passionate support away from home. But the language in that song is not acceptable at all.

“We’ve spoken to Alvaro after the game. He does not want to be connected with that song in any way and both the club and  the player request the supporters stop singing that song with immediate effect.”

Even Alvaro Morata – the player to whom the song was dedicated to, took to Twitter in order to tell the fans to dropping the chant.

We should give Chelsea all the credit for acting so swiftly but reports suggest that the FA have already launched an investigation against the section of the fans that were singing the chants.

So are Chelsea on the verge of a sanction from the FA?
