As per Italian TV pundit Enrico Fedele, Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam is fighting with the club in order to have a £18 million release clause in his new contract.
Ghoulam was targeted by Chelsea during the summer after the Blues failed to secure their primary left-back target Alex Sandro from Juventus. Conte is still in need of a left-back and numerous reports suggest that the Blues can return back for Ghoulam next summer.
The Algerian International is on the verge of signing a new deal with the club but the contract talks have been stalled at one single point. The club wants a release clause of €30 to €35 million while Ghoulam wants that to be in the region of €18 to €20 million. This has been the only conflicting point between the two parties and as soon as this release clause issue has been resolved, Ghoulam will sign a new deal.
Apart from Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool had also shown interest in signing the player during the summer and they could return at the end of the current season.
