Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is planning to strengthen his defensive line for the 2021-22 season and it seems like the manager could get his hands on two of the biggest Bundesliga defenders.

The Premier League side had brought in Thiago Silva last summer but the former PSG man is in the twilight of his career which is why Tuchel is already looking for long-term solutions.

Over the past few days, various reports in Europe have claimed that Chelsea are trying actively to sign Bayern Munich defenders David Alaba and Jerome Boateng, both of whom are not likely to sign new contracts with the German side.

David Alaba:

According to a report in The Guardian, Chelsea are likely to challenge Real Madrid in the signing of David Alaba, despite the Los Blancos being the favourites.

Jacob Steinberg writes: “Chelsea will try to hijack Real Madrid’s move for David Alaba, who is set to leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer, as Thomas Tuchel makes plans to reinforce his defence this summer.

“Although Madrid remain strong favourites to sign Alaba after offering the defender a long-term deal last month, Chelsea are prepared to enter the race for 28-year-old. Tuchel, who replaced Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge last week, is shaping his transfer plans and admires the Bayern centre-back.”

Jerome Boateng:

Most recently, Todofijaches have claimed that Chelsea had been chasing Jerome Boateng for some time now and they have finally agreed on a possible deal to sign the Bayern Munich defender as a free agent.

The report claims: “Chelsea continue to have Jerome Boateng in their sights. The German international was already Frank Lampard’s target in the past market and now with the arrival of Tuchel on the bench he remains on the agenda.

“According to the information we handle at TodoFichajes, Chelsea has reached an agreement with the player’s agent.

“The Blues have been maturing the operation for some time and if nothing goes wrong they will arrive in London at cost when the defender finds himself in his last year of contract with Bayern Munich.”

The deal for David Alaba could be a bit of stretch side the defender is very keen to join Real Madrid next season. But Chelsea could very easily get their hands on Jermone Boateng especially since not a lot of clubs are keen to sign him right now.
