Chelsea lost their first two games of the new season vs Man United and Liverpool respectively and as per Graeme Souness, there might be some worrying signs regarding the Blues.

Chelsea lost their opening game of the 2019-20 season 4-0 at Old Trafford vs the Red Devils and then in midweek, they went on to lose the UEFA Super Cup to Liverpool on penalties.

And now vs Leicester too, the Blues failed to get the necessary goals as the match ended 1-1 with Mason Mount getting the only goal for the Blues.

And talking after the Liverpool loss, Graeme Souness has claimed that while Chelsea are playing some good football but there could be a serious goal drought throughout the whole campaign.

“Sooner [the first win] comes the better, for confidence, especially if you’re introducing young players,” Souness said on Sky Sports before the Leicester game(as reported).

“I think there are really encouraging signs, the football they play.

“I don’t think it was a 4-0 last week. If they would have scored with Tammy [Abraham’s] shot, Emerson the full-back hits the crossbar, and then Ross Barkley where [David] De Gea saves with his feet.

“So they easily could have scored first last week but they didn’t.

“They ended up getting turned over in the second half and it did flatter United.

“But that’s now in the record books, a four-niller. I just worry about where the goals are going to come from. You’ve got a midfielder that are not goalscoring midfield players.

“They don’t have a centre-forward or two wide players that are going to get 20-plus goals a season.

“I think, for all the good football they play, they’ve got to come up with goals somehow.

“If you’re playing all that football but not winning games, it slowly but surely chips away at the confidence.”

Chelsea obviously have not been able to sign any new players during the summer and Gonzalo Higuain has also gone back to his parent club which means that Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud are the only recognized goal-getters for Lampard.

So either the pair will have to break all goalscoring records for the Blues or players like Pedro and Pulisic will also have to chip in with a few goals during the course of the season.
