Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is set to join Premier League rivals Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal, according to Standard.

The report states: “Crystal Palace will continue their youth revolution with the loan signing of Conor Gallagher from Chelsea.

“The midfielder, who underwent a medical with the Eagles over the weekend and is now joining up with England’s U21 side with new Palace signing Eberechi Eze this week, will pen a contract extension at Stamford Bridge before making the temporary switch to south London.

“Hodgson, whose side faced Millwall in a pre-season friendly this afternoon, has been desperate to add creativity, youth and hunger to his ranks this summer and has done so with Gallagher adding to the free transfer of sought after 19-year-old Nathan Ferguson before the near £20million deal for Eze.”

A number of others clubs(especially West Brom) had shown an inclination in signing Conor Gallagher on loan but it looks like Roy Hodgson’s side have beaten everyone to the race.

Conor Gallagher spent the 20192-20 season out on loan to Charlton Athletic and Swansea City, impressing at both these clubs.

But right now, Frank Lampard has a series of midfielders at his disposal so it makes perfect sense to send out the 20-year-old on yet another loan spell.

Gallagher can play both as an attacking midfielder as well as a defensive one but right now, Lampard is well stocked up in both those areas of the pitch.

While some fans on social media have been claiming that the youngster might never return to Stamford Bridge but according to Football London, an option to buy clause will not be a part of the loan deal.

So despite sending him out, Frank Lampard does have some kind of future plans for the 20-year-old midfielder.
