Chelsea news Willian
Willian playing for Chelsea

Chelsea beat Liverpool in the 5th Round of the FA Cup but it looks like Willian and Mateo Kovacic might have picked up big injuries during the win.

The Blues won the match 2-0 meaning Liverpool have now suffered three losses in their last four matches across all competitions.

Willian opened the scoring on the night with a long-range effort but the player was taken off with a foot injury right after the start of the second half.

Mateo Kovacic did not even last that long as he was replaced by Mason Mount in the 42nd minute of the game. And now Frank Lampard has confirmed that both Willian and Kovacic have picked up achilles injuries.

“Both have got an Achilles’ issue,” Lampard confirmed after the game, via Standard.

“Willian hopefully is not too bad, that is what he is reporting there so we will see how he is tomorrow.

“Kovacic’s feels slightly worse. Hopefully not too drastic, so we’ll see.”

It’s still unclear as to when these players will return but they will surely not be fit in time to take on Everton this weekend in the Premier League and this will be a big setback for the Blues manager.

Lampard is already without the likes of Kante, Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic meaning Chelsea will welcome Everton with a reduced squad strength and the kind of form that the Toffees are in right now, this could very well spell trouble for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

And if these injuries weren’t enough, Jorginho too is out of the Chelsea vs Everton clash after collecting his 10th top-flight yellow card of the season.
