According to a report from Fichajes, Premier League side Chelsea are planning to make a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic.

Filip Kostic is a wide midfielder who has been with Frankfurt since 2018 and to date, he’s played more than 160 games for the Bundesliga club. Last season, he had scored four and assisted nine goals in 31 league matches and his performances against Barcelona and Rangers in the Europa League had brought in a lot of attention.

He’s a vital figure for Eintracht but the German side will struggle hard to hold onto him because apart from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on him.

Antonio Conte also wants to bring in a wide player and as per some rumours, Spurs will make a formal move very soon.

Do Chelsea need to fight Spurs for Filip Kostic?

Filip Kostic is no doubt a wonderful player and since Tuchel primarily uses wing-backs, the 29-year-old can come in real handy.

However, the Blues already have Ben Chilwell amongst their ranks and the club had brought him in for a large amount, not so long ago. Chilwell was injured for large parts of the previous season so it will be like having a new player when returns to pre-season training.

We don’t think Chelsea should waste their energy or money on someone like Filip Kostic because Ben Chilwell is more than capable of playing as the left wing-back.

Tuchel is probably eyeing Filip Kostic as the replacement for the outbound Marcos Alonso but we don’t think the Eintracht man will be ready to play second-fiddle.

Adding to this, we have a feeling Antonio Conte is also not too interested in going after the Serbian because he’s just signed Ivan Perisic plus he has players like Sessegnon and Doherty as backups.
