Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich could bring in former Chelsea man Andriy Shevchenko as the club’s new manager if he decides to sack Frank Lampard, according to Le10 Sport.

The exclusive report claims: “While Frank Lampard does not feel threatened, the Chelsea staff seem to be in a completely different position.

“That of a future with a new coach. According to our information, several avenues are already being studied. And one of it would lead to Andrei Shevchenko.

“Currently coach of Ukraine, he brought the national team to the fore after the failure of Euro 2016. During the qualifying stages of Euro 2020, Ukraine finished undefeated, ahead of Portugal.

“Much appreciated by the Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich, Andreï Shevchenko (44) wore the colors of Chelsea between 2006 and 2008. A link with the Blues that he does not lose since his 14-year-old son ( born in London), Kristian, plays at Chelsea .”

Andriy Shevchenko spent seven glorious years at AC Milan before joining Chelsea in 2006 where he stayed for three years before heading for Dynamo Kyiv. The striker managed to play only 48 games for Chelsea during his time in England but in the managerial front, he’s clearly done very well.

He has been managing the Ukrainian national side since 2016 and up until now, he’s managed 40 games for them, winning 21 of them.

It’s still unclear how serious this interest is but we are pretty sure the name of Andriy Shevchenko will not be at the top of the wishlist for the Chelsea owner.

Reports in England claim the Blues are ready to back Lampard for the time being but the young manager will quickly need to turn things around. Thomas Tuchel was recently sacked by PSG and he’s another manager who’s being linked with the Chelsea job.

After the 3-1 loss to Chelsea the pressure has undoubtedly piled up on Frank Lampard but we doubt the management will look to sack him during the January transfer window.
