Chelsea suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Manchester United on Monday meaning they now have only a one-point lead in the fourth spot of the table.

Goals from Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire ensured that Man United perform a league double over Chelsea and most pundits feel that the Stamford Bridge outfit could fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Man City have been suspended from the Champions League which means even a top-five finish would be enough for the teams to play in the UCL next season and maybe this is why John Terry feels that the Blues will be able to retain their place in the top tier of Europe next season.

He said, as quoted by Metro: ‘It begins with Spurs at the weekend at home. It’s the perfect game to come and respond if you are a Chelsea supporter or player. They are probably our biggest rivals, a local derby.

‘Stamford Bridge will be rocking it’s a big opportunity for players to go and show what this fixture means, show they want to fight for the shirt.

‘It’s an opportunity for certain individuals, maybe there will be a few changes from tonight’s game.

‘It will be tough, I just think Spurs and Man United have had a couple of good results and I think Chelsea are on the decline slightly.

‘But I think they have another gear to go to and I think Chelsea will secure that fourth spot.’

Chelsea UCL hopes – VERDICT:

The loss to Manchester United means they have won just one out of their last five league matches and their next match vs Spurs will be absolutely crucial.

Spurs are currently fifth on the table and if Jose Mourinho’s men can manage to pick up a win vs the Blues on Saturday then it will be very little for Chelsea to gather momentum for the final half of the season.
