Chelsea suffered their fifth loss of the current Premier League season, this time going down 3-1 to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

The loss means they are currently eight on the league table with 26 points and have managed to pick up just one win out of their last five matches. Also, to make matters worse manager Frank Lampard is walking on a tight rope after this loss with many pundits claiming that Roman Abramovich might just sack him.

After this embarrassing loss, many experts have pointed out that Frank Lampard’s tactical rigidity is causing Chelsea too many problems. The manager seems set on using a 4-3-3 formation in each and every match, no matter what the consequences.

But defender Thiago Silva gave a post-match interview on Sunday which shows even the players have no idea how to get things back on track.

He told RMC Sport: “No, I don’t understand what’s wrong. If I understand before, I think I could have given some advice, but that’s how it is, it’s football, it’s the Premier League, one of the toughest championships around the world.

“You have to be careful, work harder, be stronger as a team, but I think the team is good, the second half was much better than the first in my opinion.

“We tried to play a little more, we managed to play.

“I think we were superior in possession of the ball in the second half, sometimes it does not work as we want, as we have prepared, but hey, that’s how it is football. We must prepare for the next match when it arrives.”

After the game, pundit Roy Keane urged players like Kante and Thiago Silva to step up and take charge but the latter clearly has no idea how to sort things out – at least inside the dressing room.

Silva was brought in(despite his age) to add more stability and maturity within the squad and so far the former PSG man has performed reasonably well on the pitch. But statements like these are clearly not a good sign from the leader of the side especially when Chelsea have so many young players within their side.
