Chelsea had been chasing Leipzig’s Timo Werner over the past couple of weeks but now it seems like the player is going to join Liverpool in the summer.
As per Sky Sports, Werner has a release clause of just £52 million and the player is desperate to play under Jurgen Klopp next season so naturally, Chelsea do not stand much of a chance in trying to lure in the German international.
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol said: “Werner will become a Liverpool player this summer if Klopp decides to activate his £52m release clause and if he can convince Werner he will play regularly next season.
“He is almost certain to leave RB Leipzig in the summer because of his release clause and he favours a move to Liverpool as long as he gets to play.
“If Liverpool can give his representatives the assurances they need, then Werner playing for Liverpool next season becomes a real possibility.”
But no sooner did the Timo Werner door shut, the Daily Mail are reporting that Arsenal have decided to part ways with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – a forward who has also been on Chelsea’s transfer wishlist.

Aubameyang will be a fine addition to the Chelsea squad next season but in order for them to get their hands on the Gabon international, Lampard must be ready to pay a big transfer fee to the Gunners.
Nicholas recently worte for Sporting Life: “He is a magical goalscorer, but the only way I can accept if he moves on is if Arsenal say he won’t sign a new contract and they have had offers for him. If they get an offer of around £60m-£80m, and accept that they need to rebuild the defence, then I would buy into that.
“I could accept if they get good money for him, as I am not convinced he will sign, and Arsenal can then rebuild in the process. Arsenal would miss his goals, but I do not think they would miss him greatly as an individual player.”
While many people might have doubts over paying such a massive fee for a 30-year-old but we think, Chelsea should go ahead with the move.
The Blues are set to lose both Olivier Giroud and Batshuayi in the summer and Timo Werner would have been a perfect addition for the upcoming season. But now with the Leipzig man heading to Anfield, Lampard needs to urgently bring in someone who can partner Tammy Abraham up top.
And we know that Chelsea might have to pay a bit too much for the Arsenal man but they do have money to spare given that they have not signed any new players over the past two transfer windows.
