Andriy Lunin has no plans of becoming the second-choice goalkeeper at Real Madrid next season and if everything goes according to plan then the 25-year-old keeper is going to join a top Premier League club.
According to a report in Sport, Liverpool manager Arne Slot is keen to sign the Ukrainian international amidst rumours that Alisson could be on his way out of the club. While nothing is concrete, there are stories in the media that Alisson is attracting strong interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Apart from Liverpool, Chelsea have also been linked with Andriy Lunin as the new Blues manager wants an upgrade to Robert Sanchez for the upcoming season. Along with these two clubs, Manchester City and Arsenal’s names have also been mentioned but we doubt if either of them are serious about signing the Real Madrid keeper at this point in time.
Which club will Andriy Lunin choose as his next destination?
After last season’s heroics, there’s no way Lunin will agree to warm the benches at the Bernabeu and even though Real Madrid are happy to keep him if a club is willing to spend around €30 million, Perez will allow the keeper to leave.
Liverpool, with a new manager, might provide a great opportunity for Andriy Lunin but we don’t think Alisson Becker is going to head to the Middle East, not at least during the ongoing transfer window.
If Alisson isn’t leaving then Lunin will face a similar situation to that at Real Madrid so there’s no way he will agree to join Liverpool.
Chelsea, however, are seemingly ready to hand Andriy Lunin the No. 1 spot next season and according to AS, as relayed by Metro, the Blues are currently in talks with Madrid over a possible swap deal.
Real Madrid want to bring Kepa back to the club as the backup to Thibaut Courtois and the Blues are using this opportunity to try and sign Lunin in a straight swap deal. Both these keepers have a similar transfer valuation which means there’s no need to make any sort of complex negotiations.
Kepa is happy to return to the Bernabeu next season and some rumours are claiming that even Andriy Lunin is now willing to join Chelsea because they can guarantee him regular playing time.
As things stand, it’s Chelsea who are most likely going to get their hands on the Real Madrid keeper, unless a club like Manchester City makes a late dash into the scene.
