Chelsea Owner Planning To Sign £53M Lazio Striker In Order To Please Antonio Conte

Chelsea have started their season in a rather mediocre fashion and they in no way look like the winners of the previous campaign. This has partly to do with the poor start to the campaign and partly because of a somewhat failed summer transfer window. The Blues lost out on several of their first-choice targets during the summer and thus had to settle on their back up options. And these misses are clearly hurting Chelsea in the new season. With 9 games completed the Blues now stand 4th on the EPL table – 9 points behind the leaders City. Many pundits feel that their title defence is well and truly over and the others who are a bit positive maintain the fact that Conte and his men will need nothing short of a miracle.

And these factors have given rise to the rumours that Conte might just be on his way out of the club as soon as the current season comes to an end. The manager has not extended his contract and his relationship with the board is getting stretched with each passing day. But now the Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich is eager to keep the Italian at the club and the Russian intends to keep him happy by making a couple of new signings. And one of them might be Lazio striker Ciro Immobile.

The Blues have only two recognized strikers amongst their ranks and Conte is desperately trying to add a new partner for Alvaro Morata upfront. And the Chelsea owner feels that Immobile will be a perfect fit into the squad – more so because Conte is a huge admirer of the player.

Immobile has already worked under Conte during the Chelsea boss’ Italian coaching days and he might just be a perfect fit at Stamford Bridge.

Immobile currently plays for Lazio in the Serie A and the player has already managed to net 43 goals in 54 appearances for them. But this talent will definitely come at a price as the Sun reports that Chelsea might have to shell out as much as £53 million for the 27-year-old striker.
