Chelsea managed to pick up a 1-0 win over Brentford and many say they were lucky to hold onto that slender lead, especially the way the Bees had performed in the final quarter of the match.

Their next match though should be a lot calmer as they face Malmo in the Champions League group stages in midweek.

The Blues are second in their group, tied on points with Zenit so they will need to win this week’s match in order to open up a gap and ensure that they qualify for the knockout stages.

Malmo have failed to win seven out of their previous 11 matches so they go to Stamford Bridge very low in confidence. Thomas Tuchel should ideally rotate his squad but given that they need to pick up a win, we expect most of the players who started during the weekend to feature on Wednesday as well.

Chelsea team news vs Malmo:

Edouard Mendy had a really solid outing vs the Bees but there’s a big chance that he will be rested against Malmo as Tuchel calls Arrizabalaga into the side.

Thiago Silva did not feature during the weekend but the defender should start here meaning Sarr will move back to the bench.

Antonio Rudiger is out with a lower back injury and he’s not expected to be fit in time for the Malmo game. The absence of Sarr means Chalobah could start on that side of defence.

Ben Chilwell scored the only goal of the game on Saturday but this time around, Marcos Alonso is expected to come into the side.

Mason Mount will replace Mateo Kovacic in midfield while Jorginho will come back into the side, in place of Loftus-Cheek.

N’Golo Kante made a full recovery and started vs Brentford and the Frenchman will hold onto his place for the midweek clash.

Timo Werner will start up front but Romelu Lukaku might be rested as Kai Havertz comes into the starting line up. The Chelsea boss had revealed that Lukaku was taken off early on Saturday due to fatigue and since Malmo are not the strongest of sides, there’s a big chance the Belgian could start on the bench.

Chelsea predicted line up vs Malmo:

Predicted Starting Line up: Arrizabalaga/Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Christensen; Jorginho, Mason Mount, Kante, Alonso, Azpilicueta; Werner, Lukaku/Havertz.
