Chelsea are in a complete mess right now as they suffered a defeat once again, this time losing to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

However, the Blues will have a great chance to redeem themselves this weekend when they take on Southampton – a team who are 20th on the Premier League table. The Saints have also sacked their manager Nathan Jones earlier this week so this should an easy win for Potter’s men.

Chelsea are winless in their previous four matches across all competitions and they are currently 10th on the table. A loss wouldn’t push them downwards but it would help teams like Liverpool and Brentford open up a bigger gap ahead of them.

The Saints have won just four games in the league this season so this match has come at the perfect time for Graham Potter and his men. Three points on Saturday will ease a lot of pressure off of the London side.

Chelsea’s team news and injuries:

Potter continues to have a long injury list with the likes of Edouard Mendy, Broja and Sterling all ruled out for the weekend’s tie.

Ben Chilwell is the latest one who’s been added to the list after he picked up a knock in midweek. The manager has Cucurella as the other left-back option so Chilwell won’t be risked against Southampton.

The Chelsea manager said after the match: ‘He had a run and got a kick on his ankle. I think it is more a kick than anything else and probably a little bit of fatigue. The idea [pre-match] was to take him off after 60-70 minutes max.’

Mateo Kovacic could be coming back into the side replacing Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the middle of the park. He remained an unused sub in midweek so he’s in line to get a start this time around. Enzo Fernandes holds onto his place as usual.

Ziyech played on the right wing vs BVB but for the weekend Madueke should be coming into the first XI. Mason Mount is also an option for the manager in that role but we think he will stick with Madueke because he’s made a good impression down the right flank.

Chelsea predicted line up vs Southampton:

Predicted Starting XI(4-2-3-1): Kepa; Silva, Badiashile, Cucurella, Reece James; Enzo Fernandes, Mateo Kovacic; Mudryk, Felix, Madueke; Kai Havertz.
