Chelsea finally got back to winning ways, beating Leicester City 2-1 but they will need to back this one up with another commanding win in midweek.

On Tuesday night, the Blues head to the St Mary’s Stadium to take on Southampton and a win on Tuesday will push Chelsea back into the top four.

Chelsea have won six of their last seven away matches against Southampton in all competitions and in their last three meetings, Tuchel’s side have scored 10 goals against the Saints.

The Blues have failed to keep a clean sheet this season so unless they are at their complete best, the home side will definitely have a chance to pick something up from this match. Thomas Tuchel has only a handful of players absent right now so he will have no excuses if his team cannot come up with the goods on Tuesday.

Chelsea team news vs Southampton:

Koulibaly will be back from suspension and this is a huge boost for the Chelsea boss. The summer signing will come straight into the side and this also means there will be a change in shape.

Cucurella played as a conventional left-back during the weekend but now that Koulibaly is back, Cucurella will move higher up the field, in the wing-back role.

Gallagher is out due to a suspension but thankfully Mateo Kovacic has returned from his injury so he will start alongside Jorginho in central midfield.

Gallagher’s absence will be a bit of an issue because N’Golo Kante is still out with a hamstring issue. Recently, Loftus-Cheek has moved up the pecking order so he can also start alongside Jorginho.

The Blues are on the verge of signing Wesley Fofana but we don’t think he will be able to play against Southampton.

The Chelsea management have not been able to replace Romelu Lukaku so it’s once again going to be the trio of Sterling, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz playing up front.

On paper, Chelsea are the favourites to win this but their attackers will need to be at the top of their game because Thomas Tuchel has very limited options in that area of the pitch.

Chelsea predicted line up vs Southampton:

Predicted starting line up(3-4-2-1): Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Koulibaly; Kovacic/Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Cucurella, James; Mount, Havertz; Sterling.
