3-4-2-1 Chelsea’s predicted line up vs Wolves: Can Lukaku get some game time?

Chelsea looked to be in cruise control in the Premier League but all of a sudden a few cold sweats are breaking out in terms of a top-four finish.

The Blues shockingly lost to Everton during the weekend and that defeat has allowed Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to come within touching distance. The Gunners are just three points behind Chelsea right now so Tuchel’s side absolutely needs to win against Wolves this weekend.

This is a match they should be winning easily but Chelsea’s form have been dodgy in recent weeks as they have won just two out of their previous five matches. Wolves are in equally bad form, losing their last three matches but if Bruno Lage’s side can push hard might just be able to pick up something from this match.

Chelsea’s team news and injury updates vs Wolves:

The ever reliant Azpilicueta has suddenly become error-prone and the manager will love to put him on the bench but he has Trevoh Chalobah as a backup so that plan cannot be enforced. Chalobah has fallen down the pecking order so Tuchel will happily put his faith in Azpi rather than use the 22-year-old.

Christensen is another option for the third central defender role but he is out with illness and will be touch and go on Saturday.

Ben Chilwell is obviously ruled out of the rest of the season so Marcos Alonso will start as the left wing-back with Reece James operating on the side of midfield.

Jorginho was taken off at half-time in the Everton match but he should be fit to start vs Wolves. It was Mateo Kovacic who came on for the Italian but this weekend, Kovacic should be getting a start, in place of Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Loftus-Cheek was one of the standout players at Goodison Park but the England international will be the one who is going to be sacrificed because Kovacic brings in a lot of attacking dimension into the game.

Kai Havertz had a poor outing against Everton and he could be another player who is moved to the bench this weekend. Pulisic is itching for starts and the Wolves game could be the one where the American international comes in.

Tuchel seems to have lost all faith in Romelu Lukaku as he did not even come off the bench in that 1-0 loss. Werner is the current frontman for Chelsea and the manager should stick with the same formation vs Bruno Lage’s team.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is another player who has been sidelined with an injury for some time.
