Chelsea dug deep and progressed to the next round of the Champions League by knocking out Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday and they will be hoping this form will be enough to get past Leicester City as well.
The Blues head to the King Power Stadium this weekend for a Premier League game and a win on Saturday will give Potter and his players even more confidence.
Chelsea haven’t won an away game in their last 10 matches and despite two back-to-back victories, the pressure is still very much on Graham Potter. The manager is slowly and steadily getting things under control so a win on Saturday will be very important. Three points will not only help them climb up the table but will also steady their nerves even more.
Leicester City are 15th on the league table and they are currently in a poor run of form. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in 6 matches and their previous four outings have ended in a defeat which means this one’s Chelsea’s to lose.
Chelsea’s team news and injuries:
The injury list continues to be long for Chelsea with Edouard Mendy, César Azpilicueta, Armando Broja and Thiago Silva all ruled out from Saturday’s game.
Azpilicueta is out because of concussion protocols while Silva is out with ligament damage and he will take around four to six weeks to make a full recovery.
N’Golo Kante has returned to first-team training but the midfielder has been out for months which is why he will take time to become match-fit.
The manager said, as quoted: ‘He needs a bit of time with the group in full training, and then we need to build his minutes up. He won’t be able to go straight in for 90 minutes any time soon, but the fact he’s training and getting closer is exciting for everybody.’
Mason Mount missed the Dortmund game due to an abdomen injury and he remains a doubt for the weekend as well. However, Mount’s absence will not be a big problem because he’s been out of form recently.
Mykhaylo Mudryk remained an unused sub in midweek so he will be pushing for a start but Joao Felix did really well down on the left flank which is why we don’t think the Blues boss will move him from that position.
Graham Potter is famous for making constant changes to his starting line up but after beating a club like Dortmund, we think the Chelsea boss will make only one or two rotations against Leicester City.
Chelsea predicted line up vs Leicester City:
Predicted Starting Line up(3-4-3): Kepa; Fofana, Koulibaly, Badiashile; James, Chilwell, Enzo Fernandes, Kovacic; Havertz, Felix, Sterling.
