Chelsea receive a triple injury boost ahead of their clash vs FC Porto: Advantage the Blues?

Fikayo Tomori, Kante & Wijnaldum Liverpool vs Chelsea

Chelsea face FC Porto in the Champions League quarter-final this week and the trio of N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham are all fit to play a part in the first leg.

Tammy Abraham has been out for a long time, missing as many as eight matches for the Blues while Kante picked up an injury on international duty with France last week. Christian Pulisic picked up a slight niggle after playing the first 45 minutes in the 2-5 West Brom defeat on Saturday.

But Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that all three players have trained with the first-team squad on Tuesday and will be available for selection at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

The manager said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday: “They are fit enough to be in the squad and will be in the squad. Good news.

“Christian went out before the accident could happen. He said there could be an injury so we took him off.

“Tammy Abraham is in the squad. Kante feels comfortable enough to be on the bench.”

Tammy Abraham and N’Golo Kante might be a part of the match-day on Wednesday but we don’t think they are going to play any part during the 90 minutes. The manager has ample options in both those areas so Tuchel will not want to risk using players who have just returned from injury.

Pulisic though is a different story since he did not pick up a full-blown injury during the weekend and should be ready to get back onto the pitch without too much rehab.

Also, the American international scored the first goal for Chelsea vs the Baggies and his good form in the first half might prompt the manager to use him in place of someone like Hakim Ziyech.
