Luka Jovic recently violated quarantine regulations in Serbia and now reports claim Real Madrid are willing to sell him off in the summer.
The Los Blancos paid €70 million to Eintracht Frankfurt before the start of the season for the services of Luka Jovic but the Serbian has turned out to be a major flop at the Bernabeu.
And while the player has admitted his mistake after denying it at first, reports suggest Real Madrid want to offload him with clubs like Spurs and Chelsea interested in signing him.
“I broke the isolation because I was not aware of the rules,” the 22-year-old said in an interview with AS as quoted by Goal. “I know it is hard to believe, but it is true.
“In the country where I come from, and even in Italy, as far as we can see on the Internet, anyone in quarantine can get out throwing trash once a day, going to a pharmacy or a store.
“I thought the same rules applied here. It’s my fault for not doing better research, but I think it’s important that they explain the conditions correctly, especially for people who come from abroad.
“My intention was not to blame the authorities for my ignorance, I was aware that I was isolating myself, for which there is a document that proves it.
“My ignorance was that I did not know how I should behave in isolation. Once again I insist that it was because of the conditions I came from.
“Of course, I am ready to bear the consequences of my actions.”
Will Luka Jovic join the Premier League?
This season Luka Jovic has played in 15 La Liga games but has managed to net only two goals which is a really poor show for a player valued at €70 million.
But the big question is whether the player can be a success in the Premier League.
Chelsea and Spurs both have money to spare in the summer meaning signing Luka Jovic should not be a financial issue for the clubs.
Yes, Luka Jovic has been a failure at Real Madrid but just a season ago he scored 27 goals in just 48 games for Eintracht which is why he still holds considerable value.
But if he were to join Chelsea then the 22-year-old might have to fight it out with Tammy Abraham for a role in the first XI – something he wouldn’t;t want to do after spending one full year being the understudy to Karim Benzema.
But if he were to join Spurs then things could look much brighter since Harry Kane has been tipped to move out of the club in the summer. If Kane was sold off at the end of the season, not only will the Lilywhites have the money to fund Jovic’s transfer but the forward will also get guaranteed playing time during the 2020-21 season.
While the news that Real Madrid want to sell off Luke Jovic in the summer is a huge boost for both Spurs and Chelsea but they will have to fight a fierce battle in case they really wish to sign him.
