PSG right-back Thomas Meuniers set to move out of France at the end of this season as a free agent but he is not likely to join Chelsea – according to multiple sources.

The full-back joined the Parisian side in 2016 but this season he has not been able to fit into the plans of Thomas Tuchel which is why the club are not going to provide him with a new deal.

A number of Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Spurs and even Manchester United have been linked with the right-back but it seems like all of them are about to miss out on the Belgium international during the summer transfer window.

Which club’s likely to sign Thomas Meunier?

Up until a couple of days ago, it was Tottenham Hotspur who were said to be the frontrunners in signing the 28-year-old.

With Serge Aurier as the only right-back option, Jose Mourinho is eager to add one more option to his squad before the new season begins and it seemed like the manager has been chasing Meunier.

Now as per rumours, Serie A giants Inter Milan have also joined the race to sign the full-back and Antonio Conte is really confident about securing the deal ahead of the other interested clubs.

This is a massive blow for Spurs but not so much for Chelsea since Frank Lampard does have quite a few options in that same role.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been a top servant for the club over the years and this campaign, young Reece James has shown that he is more than ready to take over that particular role from his club captain.

Chelsea though are by no means out of the transfer race since signing a player like Thomas Meunier for free is a luxury. But we doubt if the Stamford Bridge outfit will push as hard for this deal as Tottenham Hotspur.

During the 2019-20 season, Thomas Meunier has featured in only 16 Ligue 1 matches for PSG managing to provide only a single assist during the 1243 minutes when he was on the pitch.
