Chelsea have been going through a dismal run in the Premier League over the past couple of weeks but they’ll hope to get back to winning ways as they take on Morecambe this weekend in the FA Cup.

The Blues are winless in their last three matches and going into this game they will be without three key first-team players, as confirmed by manager Frank Lampard.

“Reece James is out of the game, although he will be training with us tomorrow,” said Lampard during the press conference.

“The game comes too early for Reece. The same with Andreas Christensen.

“N’Golo Kante is out also – a minor hamstring injury, which means he misses this game and he is also suspended against Fulham next Friday. So we’ll get him right.”

Thankfully, Morecambe are not a strong opponent and Chelsea will be playing at the comforts of their home so we don’t think Lampard will have any major issues with these fresh injuries.

The manager is expected to heavily rotate his squad on Sunday and we doubt if these three players would have featured anyway.

After their FA Cup game, Chelsea take on Fulham in the Premier League next weekend and by that time Kante(though ineligible) and Reece James should be fully fit.

Christensen is currently the backup defender to Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma and Lampard has confirmed that he too will be back in action pretty soon.

‘The injury was absolutely from that moment in the Villa game and there was probably a typical modern-day reaction where Andreas took stick for it, but he is out injured,’ Lampard added.

‘The injury isn’t too bad which is good news so he will be back training with us tomorrow.’

Many youngsters are likely to feature this Sunday for Chelsea but Lampard has refused to reveal if Kepa Arrizabalaga will replace Edouard Mendy in goal.
