Chelsea have already signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid but their striker crisis is far from over as Antonio Conte is currently on the lookout for a backup striker.

Now it looks as if one of Conte’s potential transfer targets is about to slip out from his hand. If reports are to believed then Andrea Belotti is on the verge of renewing his contract with current club Torino. The Italian International joined Torino in 2015 from Palermo and made 36 appearances in his first season with the club. But it was last year that he really burst onto the scene after having scored as many as 28 goals in just 38 appearances. And after such a wonderful season a number of top European clubs were after the 23-year-old’s signature.

But as per the report, Torino have persuaded the player to stay at the club and he is also ready to renew his contract. Belotti will definitely receive a huge pay rise if he signs a new contract but there has been no confirmation if any clauses will be added or not.

Initially, it looked like Chelsea and AC Milan were the front runners in signing the striker. But Torino were pretty clear that Belotti will only be sold to a non Italian club who were willing to shell out €100 million. So that basically ruled out AC Milan from the picture and Chelsea looked the favourites in scooping up the player if they had seriously wanted him.

But after this news, it looks like Conte might just have missed out on yet another transfer target.

The Football Fan Base view:

Andrea Belotti would have served as an ideal back-up/partner for Alvaro Morata given the fact that the Italian has a wonderful goal scoring record. But it is also a reality that Torino were asking too high a price for the player.
