Chelsea take on Aston Villa in the Premier League in midweek and this will be a really crucial game for Frank Lampard and his men.

The Blues seemed to be cruising in the league just two weeks ago but their last two matches have ended in losses meaning they are right now just about hanging onto their fourth spot on the table.

Last weekend, Chelsea went down 2-1 to Manchester City and this Saturday they suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of West Ham United that too at Stamford Bridge.

This weekend vs the Hammers, the Blues manager chose to make a number of changes but most of the regular guys are expected to return back with the inclusion of Tammy Abraham.

Chelsea news vs Aston Villa:

Tammy Abraham picked up a hip injury during Chelsea’s draw vs Valencia in the Champions League which forced him to miss out during the West Ham game.

But as per the latest reports, the player is confident that he will return back to full fitness before the Villa game meaning he should start up front replacing Olivier Giroud from the weekend.

Pedro got a rare start vs West Ham but Wilian is expected to get his starting role back after having come off the bench at Stamford Bridge.

Mason Mount seems to have fallen down the pecking order during the past few weeks but got a start vs the Hammers. Against Villa though, we think the youngster will make way for N’Golo Kante who started on the bench.

Jorginho and Matteo Kovacic have become mainstays for Frank Lampard in central midfield but the Croatian could make way for Ross Barkley but only if Barkley can prove he is fully fit to start.

Callum Hudson-Odoi came off the bench vs Pellegrini’s men and the English youngster is expected to start the Villa game on the bench as well.

As for the defensive areas, Reece James seems to have done a more than decent job at left-back meaning he gets to keep his place at right-back while Azpiliceuta is expected to start at left-back.

Chelsea need to win this clash vs Villa or else they could very well end be saying goodbye to their top-four place by the end of the month.
