Chelsea’s fine start to the 2021/22 campaign came to a grinding halt this weekend as they were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City in the Premier League. And if the Chelsea boss is not careful enough then his side could suffer yet another defeat in midweek.

On matchday 2 of the Champions League, the Blues take on Juventus away from home and we expect the English side to show a statement of intent after their defeat to Man City.

The last time these two sides met was back in 2012-13 and then, it was the Italians who came out as 3-0 winners.

This time around though things are very different since the London side are in the form of their lives whereas the Old Lady are really struggling in the Serie A, picking up just eight points from their first six matches. Despite the loss to Man City, Chelsea are the favourites to win this encounter in midweek and if Tuchel’s side can come out on the other side with all three points then they will have a great chance of securing an early qualification to the knockout stages.

Chelsea team news vs Juventus:

Thiago Silva started on the bench during the weekend but the experienced Brazilian will be coming back into the starting line up.

Reece James was forced off the pitch in that 1-0 loss and there’s a big chance he is going to miss the Juventus match in midweek. If that is the case then Azpilicueta will move into that wing-back role.

Jorginho was another player who picked up a knock on Saturday but the Italian is expected to fully recover and be available for selection in midweek. It remains to be seen if the manager uses him or not.

If Jorginho starts on the bench then N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic will pair up in central midfield on Wednesday night.

Ben Chilwell was once again an unused sub this past weekend and we doubt if his luck is going to chance against Juventus either. Marcos Alonso is once again going to start as the left wing-back.

Timo Werner paired up with Romelu Lukaku in the Man City game and the German once again had a pathetic outing. According to Whoscored, he got a rating of just 5.9 out of 10. We expect Thomas Tuchel will push him to the bench and recall Kai Havertz in the starting line up.

Romelu Lukaku is obviously going to keep his place in the side and a chance in strategy means Hakim Ziyech is going to come into the side as both Mason Mount and Pulisic are nursing injuries. Mount should be fit enough to start on the bench though.
