Chelsea mauled Malmo in the Champions League in midweek and next up, they return to the Premier League, facing Norwich City on Saturday.

The Blues won their UCL clash 4-0 so they have now won two games on the bounce and they will be looking to keep that winning streak going in matchweek nine of the EPL.

Chelsea go into this game sitting at the top of the league table by winning four out of their previous five league matches whereas Norwich are sitting on the 20th spot and are still searching for their first win of the season.

The Stamford Bridge outfit should be looking at an easy three-pointer on Saturday although Thomas Tuchel is set to miss some key first-team players. Chelsea have a fairly easy run of games for the next few weeks so he will not be sweating too much over the fitness of his players. Tuchel’s side have won 10 of their previous 12 Premier League games and barring a splendid display by the Canaries, the Blues should be picking up their seventh win of the season.

Chelsea team news vs Norwich City:

Thiago Silva returned to the starting XI in midweek but the Brazilian is likely to be rested on Saturday as Tuchel has Trevoh Chalobah as a backup. Rudiger and Christensen will hold onto their place.

Jorginho scored two goals(both penalties) vs Malmo but there’s a chance he could drop to the bench as Mateo Kovacic comes back into the side, partnering N’Golo Kante.

Some pundits though think Kante will be the one who will be rested as he has been injury-prone in the past one and a half years.

Ben Chilwell is another player who’s going to be rested meaning Marcos Alonso will come back into the first XI.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has suddenly moved up the pecking order and with Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner both out injured, he is going to feature in the advanced role, pairing up with Timo Werner.

Lukaku and Werner both picked up injuries during the Malmo game and the manager has confirmed that the pair will be out for some time.

Tuchel said, as per Sky Sports: “Romelu twisted his ankle with the foul in the box and Timo has a hamstring injury. It will take a while for both of them. We need more examinations to be more precise but they will be out for some matches.”

Kai Havertz and Hudon-Odoi came off the bench to replace the two injured forwards on Wednesday but against Norwich, only Havertz will retain his place.

The absence of Lukaku and Werner will be a blow for the Chelsea manager but given Norwich’s form, Tuchel does not have too much to worry about.

Hakim Ziyech and Ross Barkley are still waiting on the wings for their chances but they will have to be content with a place on the bench on Saturday.
