Chelsea beat Newcastle United in the Premier League this week and next up, they face Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium.

The Blues are yet to taste defeat under their new manager Thomas Tuchel and after the win vs Newcastle, Chelsea have picked up maximum points from their last four league outings.

On the other hand, Southampton have seen their form dip heavily over the past few weeks and right now, Hasenhuttl’s side are winless in the last six Premier League games. The kind of form that Chelsea are in right now, we expect them to pick up a win quite easily on Saturday but many pundits think Southampton could throw the kitchen sink at the Blues since they are desperate to get back to winning ways.

Tuchel does have a few injury concerns to deal with going into this game but the manager has ideal backups for each and every injured player so naming a strong enough starting line-up should not be an issue for the new boss.

Chelsea team news vs Southampton:

Kepa started in goal vs Newcastle United and managed to keep a clean sheet but Edouard Mendy will hopefully come back into the side next weekend at the St Mary’s.

Thiago Silva is still out with a muscle injury but he will not be fit for the Saints game meaning the trio of Azpilicueta, Rudiger and Christensen are likely to start next weekend.

Jorginho and Kovacic have been the midfielder pairing of choice for Tuchel ever since he’s taken charge of Chelsea but there’s a big chance that Kante might come back into the starting XI this time around.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been playing as the right wing-back for Chelsea in this new 3-4-2-1 formation and we expect the youngster to reprise his role on Saturday as well.

Marcos Alonso played on the left-hand side against Newcastle United but for the Southampton game, Ben Chilwell will hopefully come back into the side.

German international Kai Havertz is still recovering from an injury and will not be ready in time for next weekend’s game. This means Mason Mount gets another start.

Timo Werner finally found the back of the net after 100-odd days and the German will be rewarded with a start up front.

Tammy Abraham picked up a knock against Newcastle United and had to be taken off after just 20 minutes on the pitch. Olivier Giroud came on to replace him and the Frenchman will get the nod this Saturday as well since Abraham is not expected to be fit in time for the Saints game.
