Chelsea went into the West Brom game as the outright favourites but quite shockingly, Thomas Tuchel side ended up losing the match 2-5.

It was a whirlwind game that saw Chelsea go down to 10 men after Thiago Silva was sent off in the first half and despite the Blues creating more chances on the night, it’s the Baggies who managed to put the ball in the back of the net five times.

After Silva walked off the pitch, the other players looked absolutely clueless about how to set up with a man less and according to Joe Cole, Jorginho along with Marcos Alonso did not do their teams any massive favours.

‘The first 20 or 30 minutes there were sloppy passes, we’ve not seen that under the Tuchel reign so far,’ Cole told BT Sport, as quoted by Metro.

‘Jorginho is usually so assured with the ball, aware of what’s going on around him. He gave the ball away more than I’ve ever seen him today. Alonso wasn’t on it, on the front foot, we’ve seen him play very very well in recent weeks.’

‘It was a mindset and it’s a lesson for the manager. We can’t be too harsh on him because he’s been faultless so far, but this is a lesson that the Premier League is unforgiving. ‘No matter who you play against you’ve got to be 100% or you won’t win.’

Marcos Alonso kept on thinking he has the license to venture forward despite Chelsea going down to 10 men and the Spaniard was caught out of position on multiple occasions during the match.

With N’Golo Kante recovering from an injury, Jorginho played in defensive midfield and the Italian once again showed why he hasn’t yet been successful in the Premier League.

Apart from these two players, Kurt Zouma was another flop on the night and there’s a big chance the defender will not feature in the starting line-up any more this season.

The loss means Chelsea are stuck with 51 points and have played a game more than the other clubs wanting to get into the Champions League. So, if the like of West Ham, Spurs and Everton manage to win their remaining games then the Blues could slip down from the fourth spot and move closer to the second half of the table within the blink of an eye.
