Manchester United have finally been able to make their first major signing of the summer, in the form of Christian Eriksen.

The midfielder is currently a free agent and he has been tipped to join Man United for a couple of weeks. Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the ex-Spurs man is about to sign a three-year deal with United.

He wrote on Twitter: “Contracts are being checked by lawyers… and then Christian Eriksen will be unveiled as new Manchester United player on a three year deal.

“Eriksen has confirmed his decision to other clubs. He’s joining Man Utd as Erik ten Hag strongly wanted him.”

When will Christian Eriksen join the Man United squad?

Since no other clubs are interested in signing Christian Eriksen, we expect the transfer to be wrapped up by the end of this weekend.

He is currently a free agent so there will be no negotiations with any club but Man United will have to shell out a slightly high-wage package because they are signing him for free.

According to the reports, Christian Eriksen is going to join his new team on the second leg of their pre-season tour in Australia.

Man United will play three games in Australia as part of their pre-season tour, starting on the 15th of July and then ending on the 23rd of July.

Was Christian Eriksen a much-needed signing?

Midfielders Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have both left the club this summer so signing a new midfielder has been a priority for Erik ten Hag.

Man United are still chasing Frenkie de Jong but now even Chelsea have joined the race to sign him so it will not be easy to bring him to Old Trafford. In such a scenario, someone like Eriksen can turn out to be a great signing.

Over the years, he has turned himself into more of an attacking midfielder but he can also operate in the middle of the pitch which is a great plus for the manager.

His versatility means Erik ten Hag will be able to use both Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes in the same first XI without having to compromise too much on his midfield equilibrium.
