Arsenal looking to sign this 28 Y/O playmaker: But they have one major problem

Christian Eriksen playing for Spurs

Arsenal are currently 13th on the Premier League table and as per the latest rumours, the club’s interested in signing Christian Eriksen from Inter Milan as key reinforcement.

Eriksen joined Inter last year from Spurs but he has been a major flop for the Serie A side, playing just eight games this season in the league. And in a recent interview, Inter chief executive Giuseppe Marotta confirmed the Danish international has no long-term future at the club.

‘We’ve been very clear many times that there are players on the so-called transfer list, these are players who want to play more regularly, and the club is ready to make them happy and find replacements,’ he said.

‘Eriksen is on the transfer list, Piero Ausilio confirmed as much. He has struggled to settle into the squad, he is not functional to the squad.’

Arteta is really eager to bring Christian Eriksen into the squad at the start of the new year but as per reports, this deal will only go through if Arsenal manage to offload Mesut Ozil.

Ozil has been frozen out of the team but he still remains the highest-earning player in the squad. So if the club wants to sign someone like Christian Eriksen they will have to free up a considerable amount from their current wage bill.

Mesut Ozil is still adamant to see out his contract at the club and some rumours also claim that the dire state the team are in right now, Mikel Arteta might opt to bring him back into the first-team squad for the remainder of the season.

Arsenal aren’t the only club interested in Christian Eriksen as PSG are also keeping tabs on him which is why the Premier League side will have to move swiftly if they’re interested in signing the former Spurs man.

Yes, the Danish international will be an ideal addition to the Arsenal squad in January but we doubt if the deal will go through primarily since Arsenal will find it next to impossible to offload Mesut Ozil in such a short span of time.
