Nuno Espirito Santo wants to sign this 28 Y/O defender at Tottenham: A deal happening?

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Nuno Espirito Santo to become their next manager and it looks like the ex-Wolves manager is keen to bring Conor Coady to North London.

Football Insider are claiming that Santo and Spurs have discussed the possibility of signing the central defender this summer if the 47-year-old comes on board.

The report claims: “Nuno Espirito Santo wants Tottenham to pursue Wolves star Conor Coady this summer if he becomes their new manager, Football Insider understands.

“A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Coady has also been mentioned during talks as Nuno suggests potential reinforcements during the window.

“The Portuguese, 47, regarded the Liverpool academy product as his “lieutenant” and Wolves and wants him for a similar leadership role at Tottenham.”

Conor Coady joined Wolves from Huddersfield in 2015 and in these past few seasons, the defender has turned himself into a key figure in the first-team squad under Santo.

Coady is considered one of the pillars in defence but now that Santo has left, there’s every chance that the Wolves captain could follow in his footsteps.

Tottenham are out in the market looking to bring in one or maybe two central defenders this summer so this interest in the 28-year-old will align perfectly with their transfer plans.

This is surely alarming signs for Wolves since Conor Coady has all the temptations of leaving the club right now but they won’t be worried too much since the centre-back has four years left on his current deal.

The England international is valued at £22.50 million according to TransferMarkt but since he signed a new deal at Molineux just last year, Tottenham will have to shell out a fairly high transfer fee if they wish to sign him.
