Christian Eriksen has managed to revive his career with Brentford and according to Gary Neville, Liverpool should go ahead and sign him up.

Eriksen’s career took a nosedive after the unfortunate incident at the Euros but since then, he has returned to the Premier League and during the second half of the season, he was one of the standout performers.

He will be leaving the Bees in the coming weeks and Neville believes a player like Christian Eriksen will be able to add value to the Liverpool squad.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, Neville explained: ‘I think Eriksen will get plucked by a big club. He might show loyalty, to be fair, because of what Brentford have done for him.

‘I tell you what, if you were any top-six club that were looking at a midfield three and you wanted a player to go in there and play 30 games for you in a squad-type [situation], you’d [take him].

‘He could play for Manchester City, he could play for Liverpool, he could play for any of the top six.

‘I’m not saying starting every week, but he could come on. Look at what [Xherdan] Shaqiri was doing at Liverpool for two or three years there. If Liverpool are looking for a midfield player to come on for, say, Thiago – who gets injured a little bit – why would you not look at Eriksen?

‘Why would you not look to him to come in for two seasons and do a job for you doing that? He’s brilliant. He’s a brilliant pro, he’s a great player, his quality on the ball is unbelievable.

‘To be fair, Brentford played out here [at Old Trafford], it was one of the games United won, but some of Eriksen’s passing in that game was out of this world at Old Trafford.

‘I just thought of it then, but Liverpool do need midfield players, they do need people with quality to feed the strikers and to be fair, why wouldn’t you [sign Eriksen]? They did that with Shaqiri.’

Can Christian Eriksen be a valuable player for Liverpool?

Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho are the first-choice midfielders but apart from them, all the other midfielders are pretty average.

The likes of Naby Keita, Cutis Jones and Oxlade-Chamberlain are all sub-par and someone like Eriksen will be an upgrade any given day. During his short stint with the Bees, the playmaker has scored one goal and provided four assists in 11 Premier League matches.

Since he had a short-term deal with Brentford, Christian Eriksen will be available as a free agent and if the player is ready to play second-fiddle then he can slot in very well into Liverpool’s plans next season.

Will Liverpool be able to sign Christian Eriksen if they make a move for him?

His former club Tottenham Hotspur are being constantly linked with the playmaker and to be honest, we don’t see Christian Eriksen joining Liverpool in the coming months.

Yes, Liverpool are one of the best teams in Europe right now but the 30-year-old will want regular playing time from whichever club wants to sign him and unfortunately, Liverpool cannot offer him that luxury.

There’s no way Christian Eriksen will be able to break into the first XI for Liverpool but at Spurs, he has a much better chance at securing a place in the side. He will also be able to play in the Champions League with his former team plus at the North London side, he will be much more valued.
