Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is the latest man who has spoken on the ever-famous Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo topic.

The German boss has led a revolution of sorts at Anfield over the past couple of seasons and speaking to Free Kickerz, Klopp has explained why he would choose someone like Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo, despite labelling the Portuguese as perfect

“For me Messi, but I couldn’t admire Ronaldo more than I do already,” Klopp told YouTube channel freekickerz.

“The explanation is the following: We’ve played against both already and both are almost impossible to defend.

“But Messi has much lower physical requirements from birth on.

“If you could paint yourself a perfect player, it would have Ronaldo’s height, he could jump and run as high or quick as Ronaldo can do. And what is then even added to that is his total attitude – it is absolutely perfect and professional, it couldn’t be any better.

“And on the other side, there is the small Messi who makes everything look so simple. Therefore I like him maybe a little bit more as a player on the pitch. But Cristiano is also an absolutely incredible player.

“What both have in common is that both have left their footprints for such a long time. There are also some younger players who have a similar potential, but to do that over this time period is even more incredible.”

Why Klopp chooses Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo?

It looks like Jurgen Klopp is a fan of Lionel Messi not only because of his talent but also because the Argentine, unlike Cristiano Ronaldo, is a no-fuss player.

Ronaldo over the past couple of years has grown into this larger than life figure and right now he is the superstar that drives Juventus along.

Not only is he a top-class footballer but the former Man United man has successfully turned himself into a global brand. On the other hand, Lionel Messi is still that timid little footballer who goes around doing his job on the pitch and is mostly away from the limelight when he does not have a ball at his feet.

And in all fairness, any manager will choose a player like Messi over a superstar like Cristiano Ronaldo. Managers hate it when their players outgrow them inside the dressing room and we believe Jurgen Klopp also shares the same feeling.
