Cristiano Ronaldo has been in the news for the past couple of weeks due to a rape allegation against him and now Cristiano Ronaldo’s rape allegation seems to have affected his national career too.

The Juventus star has been accused of assault by Kathryn Mayorga back in 2009 even though the player has denied such allegations.

But Cristiano Ronaldo’s rape allegation seemed have caused a fair bit of storm amongst the football world.

Juventus recently released a set of tweets in which they seemed to back the player claiming that the incident which took place ten years ago had nothing to do with his personality right now.

Juve wrote: “Cristiano Ronaldo has shown in recent months his great professionalism and dedication, which is appreciated by everyone at Juventus.

“The events allegedly dating back to almost 10 years ago do not change this opinion, which is shared by anyone who has come into contact with this great champion.”

While Ronaldo’s club are firmly standing by him at this time of crisis the forward has been omitted from the Portuguese squad for their upcoming matches against Scotland and Poland.

This means the former Real Madrid superstar will miss the UEFA Nations League match vs Poland on the 11th of October and also a friendly vs Scotland.

The Portuguese national side are the first ones to take any bit of serious action after Cristiano Ronaldo’s rape allegation while companies like Nike and EA have claimed they are keeping a close eye on the situation.
